If you are currently a Certified SAFe® 6 Product Owner/Product Manager, you can upgrade your credential by completing either:
- Empowering Product Owners with AI SAFe Skill, orEmpowering Product Managers with AI SAFe Skill
- Both learning paths are available within the SAFe Skills Library. Once you complete the required SAFe Skill, your certification will automatically be updated to Certified AI-Empowered SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager, and a new digital badge will be issued.
Note: If you are part of a SAFe Enterprise Subscription, please contact your Account Administrator or Customer Success Manager (CSM) for specific upgrade instructions.
If you hold an active SAFe® 6 POPM certification, there is no additional fee to upgrade. The required SAFe Skill modules are included as part of your individual membership.
However, if your POPM certification has expired, you must renew it first to regain access to the SAFe Skills Library before completing the upgrade.
Note: Enterprise Subscription members should consult their Account Administrator or CSM for membership-specific details.
After completing the upgrade, you will receive the AI-Empowered POPM certification. Your original SAFe® 6 POPM credential will remain in your certification records.
You will hold both credentials; however, going forward, you will only need to renew the AI-Empowered POPM certification.
Currently, there is no fixed deadline for upgrading. If you hold a valid POPM6 certification and complete one of the AI-focused SAFe Skills, your certification will automatically be updated to the AI-Empowered POPM designation.
If you hold an active POPM5 certification, you have two options:
Upgrade to SAFe 6.0 through the official upgrade learning path and then complete one of the AI SAFe Skills, or enroll in and complete a new POPM course aligned with the updated curriculum. Either pathway will allow you to achieve the AI-Empowered POPM certification.
At this time, the AI-related content has been introduced in the course but has not yet been incorporated into the official exam or practice tests. The current POPM exam continues to align with the established learning objectives. AI-focused assessment updates are expected in the future after the content has been fully refined and validated.
